Meaningful Goals for 2025 - Start Here!

Every December, it seems like the whole world is shouting about goals. Big goals, small goals, stretch goals—all the goals. And if you’re anything like me, the temptation to dive in and start scribbling down ambitious plans is real. But here’s the thing: goals only work if they’re built on a strong foundation.

When I first started setting goals for my real estate business, I made the same mistake over and over. I focused on what looked good on paper. You know the type: “Close 50 deals this year,” or “Make six figures in commissions.” They were shiny, impressive goals—but they weren’t meaningful.

It wasn’t until I started connecting my goals to my vision for my life and business that everything changed. So today, I want to share how you can set goals that truly matter, feel achievable, and actually grow your business.

Let me tell you what I got wrong for years: I thought goals were just numbers. Close X number of deals, make Y dollars. That’s what I thought success looked like.

But numbers don’t tell the whole story. What happens if you hit your income goal but burn out in the process? What if you close more deals but miss out on time with your family or lose the joy that got you into real estate in the first place?

Your goals need to reflect more than just your income. They should align with how you want your business—and your life—to feel.

Let Me Guide You Through This: 

Step 1: Start with Your Vision

Before you even think about setting goals, take a step back and ask yourself this: What do I want my business to give me?

Do you want more freedom in your schedule? Financial stability? A sense of purpose and fulfillment?

For me, the game-changer was realizing I didn’t just want to make more money—I wanted to feel less stressed and have more time for my family. That realization shifted everything. My goals became about building a business that made all my efforts work in half the time allowing me more time to enjoy my new found wealth. 

Step 2: Set Goals That Align with Your Vision

Once you’re clear on your vision, set goals that bring you closer to it. Here’s how:

1. Break It Down: Big goals can feel overwhelming, so break them into smaller, manageable steps. Instead of saying, “I want to make $500K,” focus on the actions that will get you there, like refining your systems, cherry-picking high-value clients, or doubling down on proven strategies.
2. Make It Personal: Your goals should feel meaningful to you. If you value time freedom, set a goal to work fewer evenings or weekends. If financial security is your top priority, focus on increasing your average commission.
3. Think Beyond Numbers: Some of your most important goals might not involve income at all. For example, “Streamline my follow-up system” or “Build better relationships with my sphere of influence.” or "Learn a systems that actually makes all my efforts work."

Step 3: Focus on Impact, Not Hustle

This is important to keep in mind: not all effort is created equal. I used to think that working harder would automatically lead to better results. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t.

Now, I focus on what will have the biggest impact. For me, that meant creating my Effortless Closing Machine (Use to be called Accelerated Closing Machine 😊)—a system that helped me stop chasing every lead and start closing the right deals. Then it was being able to enjoy all the moments with my family.  

Ask yourself: What’s one thing I could do this year that would make everything else easier or unnecessary? That’s where your focus should go. Step 4: Write It Down (and Make It Real)

Something magical happens when you write your goals down. It’s like telling the universe, “I’m serious about this.” But don’t just jot them on a sticky note and forget about them.

Write them somewhere you’ll see them often—your planner, your phone, or even a sticky note on your desk. Keep them visible so they stay top of mind all year.

Step 5: Check In Often

Goal setting isn’t a “set it and forget it” process. Schedule time each month or quarter to check in on your progress. Are you moving closer to your vision? Do you need to adjust your strategy?

This isn’t about perfection; it’s about progress. Even small steps in the right direction add up over time.
