I understand the prevalent belief in the real estate industry that more leads and more hours equal greater success. Many agents find themselves working 60-70 hours a week, only to see minimal financial returns. This mindset of hustling harder without seeing proportional results is a significant problem.

Before entering real estate, I worked a corporate job doing outside sales. Despite initial success, I soon realized that the long hours and lack of flexibility were not aligned with the life I desired, especially after a personal tragedy. This realization led me to pursue a career in real estate with a determination to create a better work-life balance.

First Year Challenges

My first year in real estate was marked by emotional struggles and a relentless work ethic. Despite being named Rookie of the Year in my brokerage, the traditional approach of working with any client and chasing numerous leads only resulted in a modest $50,000 in GCI. I questioned whether the sacrifice was worth it.

The Turning Point

In my third year, I decided to transform my approach to real estate. I focused on refining my niche and targeting a specific client base. This strategic shift resulted in a remarkable increase in my earnings, culminating in over $550,000 in GCI by my third year.

The Power of Niching Down

I cannot overstate the importance of identifying a niche and ideal client avatar. Narrowing down your focus allows you to position yourself as an expert, build trust, and command higher commissions. This deliberate strategy enabled me to work less, handle fewer leads, and achieve an impressive 95% conversion rate.

My success in real estate has not only provided me with a high income but also the flexibility to spend quality time with my four children. By leveraging my brand and expertise, I can confidently dictate my terms and turn down clients or negotiations that do not align with my established values.

My journey in real estate has taught me that it is indeed possible to work 15 hours a week, deal with no more than 20 leads a year, and earn a high six-figure income.
