[00:00:00] Well, welcome back to the Effortless Closing Podcast. Today I've got a juicy eye opening topic for you.
One that might just flip your perspective on failure completely. We're talking about why calculated failures can be your greatest accelerators to success. Now, I know that might sound a little crazy, like why on earth would you want to fail?
But what I want you to understand is the faster you have calculated failures, the faster you go. So today I'm gonna break down exactly why that is and how you can start using this concept to seriously speed up your growth. Look, this isn't just a fun theory. This is the exact way I've been able to sell over $92 million in sales in just eight years, and it's the same approach I'm using right now to help a new startup I'm consulting with Grow Quickly so they can secure the funding they need to reach their goals, or how I am helping all my amazing clients inside my coaching programs to grow X [00:01:00] exponentially. It's not luck, it's strategy.
Let's kick things off by defining what I mean by calculated failures, because we're not talking about mindlessly throwing stuff against the wall and hoping something sticks. That's chaos, not strategy calculated. Failures are strategic experiments. They're the intentional moves you make where you anticipate potential outcomes, weigh the risks, and do the things anyways, because you know they're valuable information to be gained no matter what it's called.
Failing forward with purpose.
Intro: In my third year of real estate, I went from being a struggling solo agent to becoming a top 1% agent in the United States, earning over half a million dollars annually without a team or burnout. This podcast is your go-to resource for learning how to close deals effortlessly, build a thriving real estate business, and turn all your efforts into real result in half.
The time. My name is Christina [00:02:00] Koki. I am the Effortless closing coach and welcome to the Effortless Closing Podcast.
Today's episode is so important to me as this whole idea of calculated failure is absolute gold. Well, it really is. Think of it like this. Every single successful entrepreneur you've heard about, whether it's the legends who built billion dollar empires, or the ones running lead. Wildly profitable businesses like me, they've gone all through a mountain of failures.
It's non-negotiable. It's part of the process. I was just talking to an amazing woman who is getting ready to launch her first coaching program. As I was speaking with her, I had to ask her why it had taken her so long to start like years. She told me it wasn't imposter syndrome. She knew she had real goal to teach.
But then she started talking about something that I call success paralysis. Now, success paralysis isn't about doubting your skills or feeling like you're not good enough. It's actually sneaky [00:03:00] fear of what if this actually works? Did you catch that? It's not, if it doesn't work, but it's, what if it.
Actually works. What if all the work she's put in actually makes it take off? What if she becomes wildly successful and what if that success forces her to change her life in ways she's not ready for?
But here's what's really fascinating, her fear of success was just as much about failure as anything else. Because if her business did take off. What if she couldn't keep up?
What if she built something amazing only to see it collapse because she couldn't handle the growth? This is where success paralysis shows up. So clearly it's the fear of building something great and then failing to maintain it. We had a deep conversation about this and I showed her the real power. That lies in her willingness to take calculated risks, gather data from the process, instead of fearing failure, we reframed it as her greatest ally because if you're [00:04:00] willing to test.
Adjust and keep moving. You'll never truly be failing. You're just refining until you get it right. I helped her understand that building a business by design means you get to decide how you scale. It's not about building something so big, it feels outta control.
It's about building something intentional, something you can continually optimize and improve. And here's the best part, if something doesn't work. It's not the end of the road. It's just another piece of valuable data that you can use to get better. So if you've been feeling some of that success paralysis yourself, understand this.
The only way you truly fail is by not taking action at all. Every single step you take. Even those that don't work are pushing you closer to your goals. And if you start seeing failure as part of the process, it stops feeling scary and starts feeling exciting, which is where I am at in my business and my life right now.
You can [00:05:00] absolutely create success in a way that feels good to you because once you break free from the fear of success and start taking bold, calculated steps, you become well. Unstoppable. But here's the thing that separates those who succeed and those who stall out. It's not that the successful ones avoid failure altogether, it's far from it.
They actually fail more often and they do it faster. But the key is they make calculated strategic decisions and act on them quickly. They're testing offers, refining messages, tweaking systems, and continually gathering data. They're willing to look at what didn't work, make adjustments immediately, and keep moving forward.
That's a secret right there. It's like a constant feedback loop. Every calculated failure isn't really a failure at all. It's a valuable information that you get to use to make the next move better. And when you learn how to do this repeatedly, [00:06:00] you start accelerating faster than anyone sitting on the sidelines waiting for that perfect idea or strategy to magically appear.
Now, here's something critical I want you to understand. Most people treat failure like something to be avoided all costs. And when you do that, you're robbing yourself of the chance to collect essential data. Data that tells you exactly what needs to change, what needs to be doubled downed on.
Doubled down on and what's a total waste of time? This information you can only gather through action. And here's the fun part. Once you reframe failure as a learning tool, you stop seeing it as something negative. You see it as one of the most powerful allies because every time you gather new data. You are sharing your strategy, you're getting better, faster, and stronger.
Alright, let's break down the magic of doing this quickly because the speed at which you gather and process feedback is a major factor in how fast you scale. And I'm not talking about a [00:07:00] little improvement here. I'm talking about a quantum leap in growth. Here's what I mean. Imagine you have two entrepreneurs.
One of them is playing it safe, testing a new approach once every three months. I mean, really stretching things out, tinkering here, hesitating there. Second guessing everywhere. Never sure what direction to go. Does that sound familiar? They're waiting for everything to be perfect before they pull the trigger.
Now, let's look at the other entrepreneur. This person is testing and adjusting every single week. They're not afraid of putting something out there, seeing how it performs and making adjustments instantly. They don't need things to be perfect. They just need the data. They need to know what's working and what's not.
So who do you think is going to make real progress? The person who's gathering data once a quarter, or the one who's gathering it every single week and making moves right away. [00:08:00] Exactly. It's the one who's collecting more data more quickly and adjusting just as fast.
They're not sitting around waiting for the perfect strategy to fall in their lap. They're out there creating their perfect strategy by gathering intel, refining, and repeating until they've got something that works like a dream.
When I launched my first course, I was taught that you should launch it at least four times a year. You know, the whole build anticipation, create scarcity approach. But here's the thing, doing it that way left me with almost no data to work with.
I had huge gaps of time between launches and by the time I tried to make improvements, the feedback felt. Irrelevant or outta date. So I made a bold decision. I decided to launch every single month. Yep, every month. And let me tell you, it was brutal. I was exhausted, overwhelmed, but I was committed to figuring this out.
And what happened next was a game changer. With each launch. I gather data like crazy. I could see [00:09:00] exactly what my dream client wanted, what was resonating and what was missing.
The mark, and I didn't just sit on that data. I made changes fast, like instantly fast. I changed the course, changed the name, changed the offer, changed the copy, changed the funnel. I even adjusted my ICA niche in UVP. Getting even clearer and clearer each time. And here's the wild part. 15 months later, I've gone from zero to growing faster than ever.
I've built something solid, and because I was willing to fail forward and keep refining, I now have a system that works. I've moved to launching every other month, not because I'm slowing down, but because I've gotten my process dialed in, and now it's about optimizing and refining it. Even more
Effortless Closing Machine Ad Break: Do you mind if we stop for just one minute? Can we talk about your real estate business? Okay. Your closing deals. Maybe you're even hitting six figures or close to it, [00:10:00] but is what you're doing sustainable? Is it consistent? And more importantly, are you actually making the kind of money that allows you to enjoy your life without consistently hustling?
Because I hear it all the time. Agents tell me I'm doing the work, a lot of work, but it's just not working the way I want. Or, I can't maintain doing 50 deals a year to keep reaching my numbers. I'm already exhausted. But here's the truth, it's not you. It's your system, or more likely the fact that you don't have one.
And that's exactly why I've created the Effortless Closing Machine ECM. This is the same system that took me from hustling to over $558,000 a year by my third year in real estate, and has kept me up there in the top six figures for the last seven years without chasing more leads, without working more hours, without feeling like I'm on the verge of burnout.
And let's talk about the numbers because this part blows me away. [00:11:00] Okay? One of our ECM options that we have is ECM foundations. It's our self-study option That's an investment of $1,497. Agents using this system have closed deals worth $40,000 or more. Is that not crazy? Did you know that's a 2004%? ROI return on investment on just one deal.
Okay. It gets a little bit crazier because this is not just a one time win. It works on deal after deal year after year. Imagine closing 10 deals at $40,000. How crazy would that be? That is a massive. Return on investment for just a $1,497 investment. So ask yourself, how much more money are you actually losing by not having a system that maximizes every opportunity?
This isn't about pushing harder, it's about getting paid more for the deals [00:12:00] you're already closing. No need to close 50 plus deals to make the money you want. ECM cuts your work in half while doubling your income, so you have two choices. Keep hoping things magically improve or be proactive. And finally, fix what's broken.
I'll add the link to ECM below so you can learn more about it and see if it's the right fit for you. Let's start maximizing your commissions, scale your success and build a business that works for you, not the other way around. Okay, let's get back to the show.
other course creators keep asking me, how do you do it?
And it's exactly what I'm talking about today. I'm willing to fail fast and keep moving and that's what makes all the difference. The beautiful part is. You don't have to just get it right. You just have to be willing to test, adjust, and keep going. That's where the momentum come from. That's what makes everything feel effortless.
But let's get really clear about something. When I [00:13:00] say calculated failure. I am absolutely not talking about being careless or reckless. It's not about throwing spaghetti at the wall or seeing what sticks. That's just random action, and random action only leads to random results. We are not for that.
We are all about calculative failures, and that's about being bold and strategic at the same time. It is knowing that you're making the move with purpose. There's intention behind it, right? We need that strategy. You've thought through what you're trying to achieve, you consider the risk, and most importantly.
You are clear about what you want to learn from it. Let me share a real world example of how this works. A while back, I was refining my funnel for a launch. I thought I had my ideal client, my ICA niche and unique value proposition, UVP locked in. So I went all in on creating the sales copy for my launch, feeling confident it was going to hit the mark.
Basically, I was gonna explode, right? [00:14:00] That was the thought. Well, launch day came and the results were. Underwhelming. My sales conversion rate was nowhere near what I had projected, but instead of seeing us as a failure, I stopped. I took a step back and I looked at what it was, the data, what is it telling me?
The data actually gives you a story and that story tells you something. And so I actually took time in that story and I studied it, and I found where I was missing information. So when I went back and dug. Deeper to what was missing. I had realized that my messaging wasn't speaking clearly enough to the exact pain points and desire of my ICA.
My UVP wasn't crystal clear and my niche wasn't narrowed down enough to resonate powerfully with the people I was speaking with. So. I got really specific. I tightened up my messaging, dialed in my UVP and created my sales copy to speak directly to my icas deepest frustrations and [00:15:00] desires then I tested it again with my next launch, just a month later. And guess what? That small but strategic adjustment resulted in a 10% increase in sales conversions. And here's the kicker. It wasn't a total overhaul of my funnel, it was a calculated test. One where I went in with a hypothesis, took
fast action. Gathered the data and made immediate adjustments. Now, if I would've given up or scrapped everything, I would've missed out on the 10% boost in conversions, and I would have been stuck in the same spot. Still wondering why things weren't working. If you're testing something new, whether it's your messaging, your funnel, your sales process, you've gotta have a plan.
You need to go into it with crystal clear intentions. What's your hypothesis? What specific outcome are you aiming for? What's the timeline? Yeah, we need that one too. And what exactly are you going to measure to determine whether [00:16:00] it worked? Or not, because here's the truth, if you don't have a clear objective, you're just creating chaos, and chaos doesn't move you forward, it keeps you stuck, wasting your time and energy on random efforts that don't actually get you anywhere.
Intentional action is what makes all the difference. You can still move fast. You can still make bold moves, but you are not just moving for the sake of moving, right? You're making strategic decisions with the attention of gathering useful data and making improvements fast, and that's how you start building.
Momentum. That's how you create the feeling of effortless success, where you no longer are grinding just to survive. You are refining, you are improving, you're scaling, and it feels so much easier because you're working with purpose, not just hoping something will eventually click. Alright, so how do you make this idea work for you?
It's simple. You need to build a [00:17:00] process around your experiments. And the beauty of this process is that it's straightforward, powerful, and repeatable. I'm gonna tell you exactly how to do it right now. Okay? Step one, identify what you're testing. This is a big one. You wanna be really specific. If you don't get specific, you cannot really tell.
What the data, what the data is telling you, which is really hard. You can't see the story. So start off being very specific. Is it your messaging? Is it your sales process? Is it a new offer? Maybe you're trying to nail down your ICA, your niche or your UVP, like I did. Whatever it is, define it clearly. Two, set a timeline.
Don't let these tests drag on forever. It's very easy to get stuck here. Give yourself a set period of time to gather the data, whether it's a week, a month, or a quarter. Put a deadline on your testing so you can actually gather results and take action. For this one here, I'm gonna be very clear. [00:18:00] Depending on what you're testing, it should not take you a long time.
I'm not a big fan of the quarter, but I understand some of my counterparts out there. They will take a test of a whole quarter and then refine. I am the bigger believer of, give it a few weeks, see what's happening. If you're launching right, go through that launch, see what's happening, and then you should have enough information after that launch to start making adjustments already.
But if you wait too long to take action, or you're waiting for too much data to come in, what happens is you are going to just drag on forever and never make the change. So set a timeline. Don't get lost in it. Number three, evaluate quickly as soon as the timeline ends, dive into the results, what worked, what didn't, and most importantly.
Why? This is where so many people get stuck. They spend all the time gathering data, but never take the time to actually evaluate. And here's the key. Adjust immediately. Don't wait. [00:19:00] Keep the momentum going. If your new copy didn't convert like you hoped, adjust it and test again. If your sales process is clunky, smooth it out and retest it.
Okay.

Now if you're gonna look at copy, one of my key things I tell people when we're editing copy 'cause right? I am the queen of messaging. You do not wanna change everything. Some people will say just change your headlines. Some people say, just change your subheading. I'm a believer in changing the theme of the copy.
A lot of times there's a messaging element within the copy, throughout the whole copy that needs to be worked on versus just one thing. But if you wanna start with one thing, start with the headline, start with the subheading, then maybe go through the theme of the copy and see what's in there. That will help you as well.
Number four is repeat. This is a continuous. Process. Okay. The more you embrace it, the more you learn and the faster you grow. Because every single time you make an adjustment, you're getting closer to the result you want. And [00:23:00] I'm gonna tell you even when I have something super refined where I'm like, this is amazing.
Something changes always. It could be the algorithm changes something, right? The buyers, my ICA, right? Your clients, something changes with them. The economy has shifted, so you always need to continue this process because there's always something changing and you need to make sure that your systems.
Always working. Remember, it's not just about testing once and calling it a day. It's about building a machine that always getting smarter, more efficient and more powerful. And that's exactly how you create the effortless momentum that everyone talks about. But honestly, so few actually achieve once you start thinking like this testing, adjusting, repeating.
It becomes a game. You're no longer stressed about getting everything perfect the first time. You're energized by the process and refining and improving, and that's when everything starts to fill. Well, effortless. Let's take a minute to talk about why this is so [00:24:00] powerful, because it's the antidote to the biggest business killer out there, perfectionism.
And can I be honest? Perfectionism is nothing more than fear dressed up as productivity. Isn't it right? It's that voice in your head telling you that you need to have all the pieces perfectly aligned before you can take action, but. Guess what? That's a lie. They'll never be perfect and they'll never be lined up.
So let's be serious. Professionalism isn't protecting you, it's paralyzing you. It's keeping you stuck in a loop of endless planning, tweaking and overthinking, and all the while you're missing out on the one thing that can actually move you forward. Yeah. You know, taking action, gathering real world data.
And making improvements. But here's where the magic of calculated failures comes in. When you shift your mindset from, I need to get this perfect to, I need to gather data quickly, everything changes. Suddenly, [00:25:00] failure isn't something to be feared. It's actually a powerful tool you can use to accelerate your growth.
Think about it. The people who succeed the fastest are the ones who are willing to get things wrong over and over again. Why? Because they understand that every wrong move is just a data point. Pushing them closer to the right one. It's like they're constantly fine tuning the process and the more data points they collect, the sharper their strategies become.
When you take action with the understanding that failure is part of the process. Well, you're no longer afraid of making mistakes. You're excited to see what works and what doesn't. You're eager to learn, improve and scale. And the best part, this mindset frees you from the pressure of needing everything to be perfect.
Instead, you get to be curious, which is my favorite thing to do. You get to experiment. You get to look at something and say. What if I do this, and what if I do that? Which one works? Ooh, that one worked better. It's kind of a fun way to test stuff. You get to have fun with the process, and in doing [00:26:00] so, you build unstoppable momentum.
That's where effortless success comes from. So if you found yourself waiting for the perfect plan, the perfect offer, or the perfect moment. Stop waiting. Seriously stop. Because perfection doesn't create results. Action does. And the faster you take those intentional calculated actions, the faster you reach your goals.
Alright, let's bring everything together. You're sitting there right now waiting for the perfect strategy to hit you like a lightning bolt stop. Instead, start moving. Make calculated decisions, gather the data, adjust and repeat. That's how you speed up your success.
That's how you make your business feel effortless. Okay, let's recap. Today we dove into the power of calculated failures and why they're essential to growing your business faster than ever thought possible. We talked about how it's not about throwing spaghetti at the wall. Seriously it's not, but rather making intentional strategic [00:27:00] decisions, gathering real world data and improving every single time we covered why perfectionism is keeping you stuck and how the real progress happens when you're willing to test. Adjust and keep moving forward. And I shared with you how using this exact process of refining my ICA niche and UVP led to a 10% increase in conversions. Just from being willing to gather data, make adjustments, and test again quickly.
Now, here's the next step. Start applying this in your own business. Don't wait for the perfect plant. Make a move, gather data, adjust and repeat.
